    Special Note for Aetna Patients

    Aetna considers nutritional counseling medically necessary only for:

    • Obese children and adults
    • Overweight adults with cardiovascular disease risk factors
    • Patients with chronic conditions such as diabetes, eating disorders, gastrointestinal disorders, hypertension, and kidney disease

    Aetna covers MNT when provided by recognized professionals, including licensed nutritionists, registered dietitians, or qualified licensed health professionals trained in nutrition.
